The Royal Cornwall Museum in Truro has been awarded HLF funding to redevelop the Museum – this is great news. There is an online questionnaire asking for feedback from the public (but it has been poorly publicised and closes in a couple of weeks).
I have posted an article to generate / raise awareness and seek action from the mineralogical community to ensure that the mineral collection and Rashleigh Gallery are highlighted as important, and not degraded, or even lost, in the redevelopment.
Any readers who wish to further highlight the importance of the collection can e-mail the Director, Ian Wall, at
GCG are saddened to learn of the passing of Ron Cleevely last month. His book "World Palaeontological Collections" is an invaluable reference work to curators everywhere. The attached document was prepared by Claire Mellish on behalf of his colleagues at the Natural History Museum.
